Representatives of Syria’s new government refused to shake hands with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during her visit to Damascus.

Axar.az reports that the information was shared by the DPA agency.

According to the report, the Syrian delegation welcoming the minister at Damascus Airport refrained from shaking her hand. Later, during a meeting, Syrian leader Ahmad al-Sharaa took the same approach.

"As soon as I arrived, it became clear to me that there would be no ordinary handshakes here," Baerbock told journalists.

It should be noted that the foreign ministers of Germany and France, Annalena Baerbock and Jean-Noël Barrot, made a joint visit to Syria.
