US withdrawal from nuclear deal was a strategic mistake

Tehran is ready to immediately begin constructive negotiations with the West regarding its nuclear program.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The minister stated that the main goal of these negotiations should be to reach an agreement.

Araghchi emphasized that the US's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement was a strategic mistake.

He also reiterated that Iran is ready for negotiations based on the previous terms—The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA). This plan envisions the lifting of sanctions in exchange for increased confidence in Iran's nuclear program.

Araghchi further mentioned that the first round of negotiations has already taken place with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and the next round is planned within two weeks.

The minister also addressed the new US government, stressing that they expect to see concrete policies from them. Tehran will base its decision on this policy.

It is worth recalling that in 2015, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Russia, the US, France, and Iran signed a nuclear agreement, which aimed to limit Iran's nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions. However, in 2018, the then US President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement and reimposed sanctions on Tehran.
