President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, on February 19.

Axar.az reports that Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani conveyed the greetings of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to the head of state.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked to convey his greetings to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The guest once again extended his congratulations on the successful holding of COP29 in Baku.

The Head of State recalled with satisfaction the participation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan in COP29 and highly appreciated it.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on the prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in the economic, trade, energy, and other fields, and the successful implementation of military cooperation was emphasized. At the same time, satisfaction was expressed with the support of our countries for each other within the framework of international organizations, and the importance of relations between our parliaments and the work of the intergovernmental commission was noted.

The development of relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in the Azerbaijan-Turkiye-Pakistan trilateral cooperation format and the importance of trilateral meetings in this format were touched upon.

The guest presented a commemorative gift to the head of state.
