Azerbaijan-Iran discuss relations and cooperation

A telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyid Abbas Araghchi.

Axar.az reports that issues arising from Azerbaijan-Iran bilateral and regional relations were discussed during the telephone conversation.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of political dialogue in the development of existing Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.

It was noted that the joint projects implemented between Azerbaijan and Iran in the fields of energy, transport, and investment are of strategic importance. In particular, it was noted that the transport corridors passing through the territory of Iran, as well as infrastructure projects connecting the western regions of Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, create new opportunities for the region.

The parties also noted the role of the intergovernmental economic commission in developing trade and economic relations between the two countries.

During the telephone conversation, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
