Iranian army officer killed in southeastern Iran attack

An Iranian army officer has been killed and another serviceman wounded in an armed attack in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Axar.az reports, citing Iranian media, that First Lieutenant Javad Heshmati of the 377th Mobile Assault Brigade was killed in the attack.

The Popular Fighters Front claimed responsibility.

Several other attacks targeting Iranian security forces have been reported in the region over the past 48 hours, with the group claiming responsibility for two of them.
