Azerbaijan commemorates liberation of Hadrut

Today is the day when the Hadrut settlement of the Khojavend region was liberated from occupation.

Axar.az reminds that as a result of the counter-offensive operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Army starting from September 27, 2020, the Hadrut settlement was liberated from the enemy on October 9.

During the battles, the Azerbaijani Army advanced on the southern front in early October and headed in a direction that the enemy did not expect - Hadrut. The liberation of Hadrut was one of the operations that largely decided the fate of the war. While the enemy expected the Azerbaijani military to go to Shusha from a different direction, the Azerbaijani Army liberated Hadrut and later headed towards Shusha. Therefore, the Hadrut battles played a very important role in the liberation of Shusha.

Thus, heavy fighting began on October 7, and on the 9th, the Azerbaijani Army took control of strategically important villages and heights located near the settlement. On that day, in addition to the Hadrut settlement, the villages of Chayli in Tartar, Yukhari Guzlak, Gorazilli in Fuzuli, Qishlag, Garajalli, Efendiler, Suleymanli in Jabrayil, and Sor in Khojavend were also liberated from enemy occupation.

On March 16, 2021, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Ilham Aliyev, raised the national flag in the Hadrut settlement and delivered a speech.
