Kazakhstan has received all the expert reports from equipment manufacturers needed for the technical investigation into the AZAL plane crash in Aktau in December 2024.
Axar.az informs Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev told journalists that the international commission he leads, which includes representatives from Azerbaijan, is continuing its work on the investigation of the AZAL Baku–Grozny flight crash.
“The investigation is ongoing. All necessary expert reports from equipment manufacturers, including GPS trackers, navigation systems, and the aircraft manufacturer, have been obtained. The findings are now being finalized and will be coordinated with commission members,” he said.
Bozumbayev stressed that the commission includes experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia, as well as representatives from Embraer and the international civil aviation agency. “According to international standards, Kazakhstan is expected to finalize the technical findings within the next few months,” he added.
On December 25, 2024, an Embraer 190 operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), flight J2-8243 from Baku to Grozny, crashed 3 km from Aktau, Kazakhstan.
There were 67 people on board the Embraer 190, including 42 Azerbaijani citizens, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakh citizens, and 3 from Kyrgyzstan.
The crash claimed 38 lives, while 29 people survived.
