Aeroflot has denied reports claiming that flight SU1854 from Moscow to Baku made an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport due to an engine failure.

The airline clarified that the information is false. In fact, during the March 22 flight, the plane struck a bird shortly after takeoff.

“Repоrts of an engine failure are incorrect. Following flight safety procedures, the captain of flight SU1854 decided to return to Sheremetyevo Airport due to the bird strike,” the statement said.

The aircraft landed safely under normal conditions, and no serious technical issues occurred. All passengers remained safe.

Aeroflot added that a replacement aircraft will be used to continue the flight to Baku without delays, and preparations are underway to transfer passengers to the new plane.
