The body of Samad Nasrullayev, the captain of the civilian cargo vessel Atlas Bey, who was killed in a drone attack off the coast of Odesa, Ukraine, has been recovered and brought to Odesa.

Axar.az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the body will be repatriated to Azerbaijan once the necessary procedures are completed.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased ship captain. May he rest in peace," the statement said.

As previously reported, the Atlas Bey, a civilian cargo vessel owned by Turkey's Okean Maritime, came under a drone attack off the coast of Odesa at around 3:15 p.m. local time on July 14. The ship had 11 Azerbaijani citizens on board. Search efforts had been underway to locate the captain. On July 15, the remaining 10 Azerbaijani crew members returned home via Moldova and Turkiye.
