Today is the 96th anniversary of Zarifa Aliyeva's birthday, one of the outstanding figures of the 20th century.

Axar.az informs that, honored scientist, doctor of medical sciences, academician Zarifa Aziz gizi Aliyeva was born on April 28, 1923 in Shahtakhti village of Sharur region.

After graduating from high school in 1942, he entered the Medical-Prophylaxis Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute and graduated from that institute in 1947. Then she has undergone an ophthalmology course at the Central Doctors Improvement Institute in Moscow.

In 1950 Zarifa Aliyeva entered the post graduate school and graduated in 1953.

Until 1957 he worked as a scientific worker at the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Ophthalmology, from 1960 to 1967 as a senior scientific worker, and from 1967 he worked as an associate professor of the Eye Diseases Department at the Azerbaijan Institute of Doctors Improvement Institute named after A.Aliyev. Head of the Department of Ophthalmology (1982-1985).

The results of the years of observations, clinical trials and experiments were the basis of Zarifa Aliyeva's doctoral dissertation entitled "The state of vision organs of a number of chemical enterprises in Azerbaijan" defended by one of the most popular ophthalmologic centers - H. Helmholts Moscow Eye Diseases Scientific Research Institute. In 1977 Zarifa Aliyeva was awarded the degree of doctor of medical sciences.

Zarifa Aliyeva has exceptional services in the development of ophthalmology in Azerbaijan. He is the author of numerous rare scientific works on studying, preventing and treating eye diseases in the chemistry and electronics industries in Azerbaijan, as well as many contemporary studies of ophthalmology, including "Therapeutic ophthalmology", "Fundamentals of Iridodiagnostics" one author, 12 monographs, textbooks and textbooks, about 150 scientific works, one invention and 12 rationalization proposals.Zarifa Aliyeva has made a great contribution to the training of highly qualified medical personnel. He was a member of the Editorial Board of the All-Union Ophthalmology Society, the Soviet Peace Committee, the Board of the Azerbaijan Ophthalmology Society, and the editorial board of the magazine "Vestnik ophthalmologii" (Moscow).

Professor Z.Aliyeva was awarded with the highest award in the field of ophthalmology - academician M.E.Averbakh of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR for her major contribution to the development of ophthalmology in 1981. It should be noted that Professor ZA Aliyeva was the first woman to receive this award.

In 1983, Zarifa Aliyeva was elected as a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR with a high level of scientific research, social significance, public activity, pedagogical talent, and long-term scientific research.

Zarifa Aliyeva was awarded with orders and medals for her services. He was honored as a honored scientist of Azerbaijan.

Zarifa Aliyeva died on April 15, 1985 in Moscow.
