The opening ceremony of the "Capital Year" will be held in the city of Shusha, which has been declared the "cultural capital of the Islamic world".
Axar.az reports that according to the information provided by the Ministry of Culture, this was discussed at the 2nd Consultative Meeting of the Secretary Generals of the National Commissions of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the 44th session of the Executive Council of the organization in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Ministers, ambassadors, representatives of member states, and representatives of regional and international organizations took part in the events.
The event participants were informed about the COP29 to be held in Azerbaijan, and it was pointed out that COP29 is a good platform for the global presentation of international projects and initiatives. New ideas were also put forward by teams in relevant fields for implementation within the framework of COP29.
At the meeting, a decision was made to extend the membership period of the member countries of the Financial Control Committee of ICESCO, in which Azerbaijan is also represented.
It was pointed out that this year is an important year for Azerbaijan in terms of holding international events and cooperation with ICESCO. It was noted that the opening ceremony of the "capital year" will be held in the city of Shusha, which has been declared the "cultural capital of the Islamic world" for 2024, and a large number of events will be organized throughout the year. ICESCO and member countries were once again thanked for declaring Shusha the cultural capital and they were invited to the events to be held in Shusha.
