The Road Map for 2024-2026 on the main directions of the development of Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation was signed in Baku.
Axar.az was informed about this by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Road Map envisages taking concrete steps related to developing cooperation in trade-economic and investment, transport, industry, agrarian and food safety, energy, tourism, humanitarian and social, as well as innovation and information technology fields.
The signing of the road map took place during the meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, with the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Alexei Overchuk, who is visiting our country.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the successful development of Azerbaijan-Russia friendly relations in various fields.
It was especially noted that on February 22, 2022, the signing of the Declaration "On cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation" by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia in Moscow raised bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.
It was stated that there is an extensive contract-legal base between the two countries. The results of the implementation of the road maps on the main directions of the development of Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation for the period up to 2024, prepared by the instructions of the heads of state, were highly appreciated, and mutual interest in continuing this positive experience was expressed.
Thus, during the period covering the years 2018-2023, when the road maps are implemented, trade facilitation and trade flow diversification, improvement of customs and border-crossing infrastructure, increase of the volume of cargo transportation across the state border, as well as the capacity of the departure points and many other directions steps have been taken.
It was reported that as a result of the measures taken, the stable dynamics of Azerbaijan-Russia trade and economic relations were ensured, and the trade turnover increased more than 2 times compared to 2017 and amounted to more than 4.3 billion US dollars last year.
In addition, in 2023, the volume of total cargo transportation between the two countries will increase by 87% compared to 2017, including the volume of transit cargo by almost 4 times. Also, cargo transportation through the North-South International Transport Corridor increased by 44% compared to 2017.
At the meeting, the importance of successful projects implemented in the field of mutual investment was noted, and the prospects of expanding cooperation in this direction were exchanged.
The level of cooperation in various directions of the industrial field was highly appreciated, and it was said that this cooperation also covered the territories freed from occupation.
Expressing satisfaction with the development of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, it was brought to my attention that wide opportunities have been opened in this direction. Touching on the importance of the "North-South" International Transport Corridor, the importance of joint efforts to make the corridor work at full capacity was emphasized.
At the meeting, prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in energy, agriculture, improvement of customs-border infrastructure, humanitarian, and many other fields were widely discussed.
