Today, at the Baku Military Court, the victim Karim Novruzov testified that in September-October 1991, the Armenian army attacked the village of Bas Guneypaya in the Aghdara district four times. As a result, World War II veteran Qoshun Abdullayev (born 1910), Hamza Alakbarov, and other villagers were killed.
Axar.az reports that he stated the Armenian army’s last large-scale attack took place on March 12, 1992.
“They attacked five villages in the Aghdara district, including our village, Bas Guneypaya. They surrounded the entire village and opened fire from tanks and heavy artillery. They had significant military forces, armed with assault rifles, machine guns, and sniper rifles. On March 12, 1992, my father was heroically died alongside his comrades while trying to save civilians from a massacre. Besides my father, my brother, two of my uncles, other relatives, and my childhood friend were also killed in that battle. Although negotiations were held through mediation of Vitali Balasanyan, they refused to return the bodies of my father and those who died with him. To this day, their whereabouts remain unknown,” said K. Novruzov.
He added that as a result of the incident, a family of five was brutally murdered by the Armenian army.
It should be noted that the trial of citizens of the Republic of Armenia accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes—including preparation and conduct of an aggressive war—genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, as well as terrorism, financing of terrorism, forcible seizure and retention of power, and many other serious crimes committed as a result of Armenia’s military aggression, is ongoing.
