According to the "Individual Partnership Cooperation Program" for 2025 between the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan and NATO, a course on "Legal Aspects of Military Operations" is being held in Baku by the mobile training group of the Joint Forces Command located in Brunssum, Kingdom of the Netherlands.

It was reported that speaking at the opening of the event, the Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Defense, Major General of Justice Elchin Aliyev, spoke about the importance of such measures in expanding military cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, especially noted that all norms and principles of international law have been protected during the operations conducted by our army in recent years under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
Major General E. Aliyev, upon the instruction of the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, stated that one of the priority tasks ahead is to convey to the personnel of the Azerbaijani Army the provisions of International Humanitarian Law (Law of Armed Conflicts) and monitor their implementation. emphasized.
It should be noted that the main objective of the course conducted by the instructors of the NATO mobile training group is to instill experience in the formation and principles of the Law of Armed Conflict, the legal framework document for the use of force, legal aspects of peace support operations, legal aspects of targeting in operations, protection of civilians, protection of cultural heritage, responsibility of the leadership, status and privileges of forces in NATO missions, as well as international agreements during peacekeeping operations.
The course, organized at the War Games Center of the Military Management Institute of the National Defense University, will teach various topics related to instilling theoretical knowledge on the norms of international humanitarian law and the Law of Armed Conflict in NATO, including the possibilities of their application during service activities.
At the end, briefings will be presented on the tasks and objectives completed, and certificates will be issued to the course participants.
