Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev, delivered a speech at the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board with the National Declaration of Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that this was written on page X of the representation.

It was noted that Azerbaijan confirms its commitment to UNESCO's global priorities:

"We work openly and inclusively with Member States to promote sustainable development. Based on a strong tradition of multiculturalism, Azerbaijan is a supporter of global dialogue and peace through initiatives such as the Baku Process and the Culture of Peace. Education is a national priority. We are developing inclusive, equitable, and quality education. As the host of COP29, Azerbaijan is ready to lead the global climate agenda. Our selection to chair the conference reflects strong international confidence in our climate leadership."

It was also noted that cultural heritage is an indispensable part of human history and must be preserved for future generations:

"Protecting cultural heritage from the destructive effects of armed conflict is of utmost importance. The restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity and the liberation of its territories from 30 years of Armenian military occupation have created a new environment in the South Caucasus. Despite the extensive destruction caused during the Armenian military occupation, the displacement of approximately 750,000 Azerbaijani civilians from the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions of Azerbaijan, as well as more than 300,000 Azerbaijanis from their historical and ancestral homelands, Azerbaijan remains committed to reconciliation and regional development."
