Today, during an ongoing trial at the Baku Military Court, video footage related to the occupation of Lachin district by Armenian armed forces was shown.
Axar.az reports the video footage, recorded by Armenians on May 18, 1992, shows burning houses in the Lachin district and Armenian soldiers. In the video, one Armenian soldier points to a burning house and says to another, "Ashot, look how it’s burning."
After that, the victims were heard in court.
One of the victims, Jamal Mammadov, a resident of the village of Jijimli in the Lachin district, stated that in May 1992, the village was occupied by Armenian armed forces. He also mentioned that his father, Mehti Mammadov, was killed by Armenian soldiers on August 12, 1989. "According to the Russian soldiers, my father was shot by an Armenian soldier named Kamo. I was 18 years old at the time," he added.
The victim, Aghali Ibrahimov, stated that he was born in 1961 in the village of Jagazur in the Lachin district and lived in that village. He also mentioned that his village was attacked and occupied by Armenian armed forces on May 18, 1992. He noted that his village was located near the border with Armenia and that, before the occupation, it was regularly shelled from the direction of Armenia’s Gorus district, including the village of Dig in that district. "Until May 8, 1992, the Armenian attacks were somewhat scattered. But after May 8, the attacks were carried out by a unified command. They particularly used 'Grad' and 'Alazan' rockets, as well as long-range artillery," he added.
Aghali Ibrahimov stated that in the village of Jagazur, he had a two-story house with six rooms, auxiliary buildings in the yard, fruit trees, large and small livestock, poultry, as well as household items and property in his house. In other words, he suffered significant losses.
