Defendant Mnatsakanyan admits role in occupation

During an ongoing trial at the Baku Military Court, the defendant Levon Mnatsakanyan confirmed his participation in the occupation of Azerbaijan’s sovereign territories.

Axar.az reports L. Mnatsakanyan stated that over the years he served as a battalion commander, division commander, and chief of artillery in the puppet entity.

Answering questions from the state prosecutors, the defendant admitted that the military unit led by Samvel Karapetyan took part in the occupation of Azerbaijan’s sovereign territories, saying: “I participated in combat operations in Aghdam, Jabrayil, Agdere, Fuzuli, and other areas.”

It should be noted that the trial of citizens of the Republic of Armenia—accused of numerous crimes including crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, preparation and conduct of an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, as well as terrorism, financing of terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, and other serious offenses committed as a result of Armenia's military aggression— continues.
