Antoine Griezmann's move to Barcelona is now official, so Real Sociedad will receive the 24 million euros which they are due. In the past, the Basque club agreed that they would get 20% of the Frenchman's next transfer.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media that Griezmann was the protagonist of one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer after his lengthy negotiations with Barca. Finally, the transfer is official and Real Sociedad will get 24 million euros in their coffers because of it.

On 15th May, the president of Real Sociedad admitted this on the radio station 'Cadena COPE': "Am I jumping up and down? Yes... well. We are due 24 million euros."

This is because when Sociedad sold Griezmann to Atletico Madrid in the 2014-15 season, they kept 20% of the player's rights. In other words, they would be entitled 20% of the money the next time Griezmann was sold. The club did this as they were well aware his market value could skyrocket in the future.

That is a big economic boost for the team from Northern Spain. They finished ninth in La Liga and they are looking to try and get into the Europa League spots. Now, they will be able to move with more freedom in the transfer market.
