Despite dramatically calling quits on the Argentina national team just a few weeks ago, Lionel Messi scored a game-winning goal on his return to international duty.

As if to underline his importance to the cause, Messi scored the only goal of the game (via a fairly significant deflection) in a slim 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over rivals Uruguay.

Messi's retirement about-face didn't go unheralded by the appreciative fans in the Estadio Malvinas either, with one supporter bursting past security and onto the pitch in order to kiss his idol's magical feet.

Then security forces took the fan out of the scene.
