India successfully tested its most formidable nuclear-capable Agni-5 ballistic missile.
Axar.az informs the missle has a strike range of over 5,000-km to reach even the northernmost parts of China, from the integrated test range at Chandipur in Odisha on Wednesday.
“The launch validated all operational and technical parameters. It was carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC),” the defence ministry said in a brief statement.
It is expected that the Agni-5 with MIRV will take a few months to become operational after multiple tests.
A MIRV payload basically means a single missile carrying three or four nuclear warheads, each programmed to be released at different speeds with different trajectories to hit different targets that can be hundreds of kilometres apart.
