Nikiforov appointed commander of Russia’s Northern forces

Colonel General Yevgeny Nikiforov has been appointed commander of Russia’s “Northern” military group.

Axar.az reports that this information was released by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

It should be noted that Nikiforov previously served as commander of the 59th Army from 2017 to 2019, deputy commander of the Western Military District from 2019 to 2020, chief of staff of the Eastern Military District from 2020 to 2022, and since January 2023, commander of the Western Military District (later reorganized as the Moscow and Leningrad Military Districts).
