Russian Defense Minister meets Libyan army chief

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan National Army, Khalid Haftar.

Axar.az reports, citing a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry.

The meeting touched upon pressing issues of Russian-Libyan relations and discussed the development of the situation in North Africa.

During the meeting, Belousov congratulated Haftar on his appointment as Chief of the General Staff and the military rank of Colonel General.

"Of course, this is a recognition of your great contribution to strengthening the country's defense capabilities," Belousov noted.
