Olga Reshetilova has been appointed Ukraine's first military ombudsman.

Axar.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in his evening address to the nation.

He said that Reshetilova will be the president's commissioner for the protection of the rights of military personnel and their families.

The head of state thanked members of parliament for approving the president's draft law on the military ombudsman.

The president added that the institution's launch and its systematic work are still ahead.

"It is important that this is felt at all levels in the Ukrainian Defense Forces: we are doing work that strengthens the army, and we are also doing work that strengthens the soldiers in our army," Zelensky noted.
