Azerbaijani athlete Murad Ahmadiyev achieved a historic success at the Greco-Roman wrestling world championship held in Zagreb.
Axar.az reports that Ahmadiyev, who competed in the 97 kg weight category, first defeated Italian Nikoloz Kakhelashvili (4:1), then Kyrgyz Uzur Chuzupbekov (5:1).
In the quarterfinals, he defeated world and European champion Artur Aleksanyan of Armenia, who ended with a score of 3:3, with the last point advantage.
