The route of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Budapest summit with US President Donald Trump has been announced.
Axar.az reports that the Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda published information about this.
It was reported that the Russian leader's plane will fly over the Black Sea, Turkiye, the coast of Greece, Albania, Montenegro, and Serbia.
Putin's plane will be protected by Russian fighters up to the Black Sea, followed by F-16s of the Turkish Air Force. Moscow stated that these measures were taken to prevent any provocation.
In addition, an alternative route has been prepared for Putin to reach Budapest. The second route is planned to pass through the Caspian Sea, Iran, Turkiye, the Mediterranean Sea, Montenegro, and Serbia.
According to another article written by the BBC, Putin will want to use the Il-96 aircraft to ensure his security. However, in this case, Russia would be forced to obtain special permission to fly over the airspace of EU or NATO member states and violate the EU ban on Russian aircraft.
European Commission spokeswoman Anitta Hipper said in a statement that member states could apply for exemptions on their own initiative, but that this decision would have to be made individually by each country.
NATO has also discussed the issue and said that the likelihood of countries agreeing to this issue was high due to Trump's involvement in the process.
