New US sanctions complicate Moscow–Washington relations

New US sanctions imposed against Russia make it difficult to restore Moscow–Washington relations, but this is not a reason to abandon the idea of establishing ties.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.

"Despite the various nuances voiced by the US president, we must still focus on our own interests. Of course, the measures taken this week were an unfriendly step. They really undermined the prospects for the revival of our relations. However, this does not mean that we should give up on these intentions. We must do what is beneficial for ourselves," the Kremlin spokesman said.

It should be noted that the United States has imposed sanctions on more than 30 subsidiaries of the "Rosneft" and "Lukoil" companies.
