Czech Speaker removes Ukrainian flag from parliament

The newly elected speaker of the lower house of the Czech parliament, Tomio Okamura, has taken down the Ukrainian flag from the building.

Axar.az reports that Okamura shared a video of the flag being taken down on the X social platform.

Taking down the flag was one of Okamura's first steps as a speaker.

"This is a certain symbol. The Ukrainian flag was taken down from the building on my orders, and it only took a few seconds," he said.

His move was not met with unanimous approval in the Czech public.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian flag has been hanging in the parliament building since 2022.
