Germany tightens migration law

Several changes were made to the law on German migration policy at the Bundestag meeting.

Axar.az reports that the changes further tighten the government's migration policy. The government will now be able to classify countries as "safe countries of origin" without the need for approval from the Bundesrat, making it easier to deport people from those countries. The government aims to prevent unfounded asylum applications and speed up procedures at the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). According to the new rules, applications from people from safe countries of origin will be assessed as "manifestly unfounded."

The bill was supported by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, along with the parties in the government, while the Greens and the Left party opposed it. The same package also includes the abolition of the right to appoint a lawyer at the expense of the state for people who could be deported. In addition, a ten-year ban will be imposed on people who intentionally provide false information during naturalization.
