Statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Azerbaijan

Iran attaches great importance to the development of relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan. Official Tehran is interested in ensuring lasting peace and stability in its neighborhood—the South Caucasus.

Axar.az reports that these remarks were made by Ismail Baqaei, the official spokesperson of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, at a press conference held in Tehran on December 7.

He noted that Iran and Azerbaijan share neighborhood, historical, and cultural ties. These factors ensure the development of bilateral relations.

Baqaei added that by strengthening diplomatic relations, Iran seeks to advance its ties with Azerbaijan. He also stated that today Iran’s Foreign Minister will visit Azerbaijan and hold a series of meetings with officials to further develop bilateral relations.
