Mirziyoyev  pardons 615 people ahead of Constitution Day

On December 8, ahead of Constitution Day, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pardoned 615 people.

Axar.az reports that the decree was published on the Uzbek leader’s official website.

It was noted that those pardoned are individuals who sincerely regretted their actions and are firmly committed to reform.

Of the 615 people, 220 were released on parole, 123 were freed from conditional sentences, pretrial detention measures were changed for 97 convicts, and the prison terms of 175 individuals were reduced.

The decree states that among those pardoned, 9 are foreign citizens and 9 are members of banned organizations.

In addition, according to the decree, ministries and agencies have been instructed to assist the pardoned individuals in returning to their families and loved ones, adapting to public life, engaging in productive work, leading a healthy lifestyle, and taking their rightful place in society.
