Louvre flood damages up to 400 books

Around 300–400 books were damaged in one of the rooms of the Egyptian Antiquities Library at the Louvre Museum as a result of flooding.

Axar.az reports that the deputy administrator of the museum, Francis Steinbock, told BFMTV about this.

He said the incident occurred on November 26. The oldest of the submerged books dates back to the 19th century:

"These are important works, periodicals, reference materials, and archaeological journals — but we are not talking about irreplaceable or invaluable books."

The flooding was found to have been caused by a water leak resulting from the accidental opening of a valve in the hydraulic heating system.
