Donald Trump Jr. has criticized corruption in Ukraine and said his father may leave the country on its own if it does not make peace with Russia.
Axar.az informs that Politico reported this.
The publication says the son of U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a speech at the Doha Forum, a major gathering of government officials and international actors.
In his speech, Trump Jr. emphasized that Ukraine has long suffered from corruption, adding that bribery fuels the war both in Moscow and Kyiv.
He also took a tough stance toward Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In this context, Politico recalls the recent corruption scandal and the resignation of Andriy Yermak as head of the Presidential Office, and then quotes Trump Jr.’s remarks:
“Because of the war and because he became one of the greatest marketers of all time, Zelensky practically turned into a ‘god’ — especially in the eyes of the left — someone flawless, who could do no wrong.”
When asked whether the U.S. President would abandon Ukraine, Trump Jr. replied:
“I think he might. The good and unique thing about my father is that you never know what he will do. His unpredictability forces everyone to act with intellectual honesty. We want peace. We want to stop the killing.”
