Armenia cuts mandatory military service to 18 months

The Armenian parliament has passed a bill in its second and final reading to reduce the mandatory military service period from 24 months to 18 months.

Axar.az reports that 65 MPs voted in favor of the bill, 4 against, and 20 abstained.

The proposal to shorten the service period was first put forward by the Armenian Ministry of Defense in September.
