US strikes aimed at supporting Maduro capture

The US military strikes on various targets in Venezuela were intended to support the forces carrying out the operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Axar.az reports that these remarks were made by Senator Mike Lee on his social media account, citing US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“I just spoke by phone with Secretary Rubio. He said that Nicolás Maduro was arrested by US officials to be prosecuted in the US, and tonight’s military operation we witnessed was carried out to protect those executing the arrest warrant,” Lee wrote.

He also stated that Rubio does not believe any further operations in Venezuela are necessary following Maduro’s arrest.
