Direct Bangladesh-Pakistan flights to resume after 14 years

Direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh will resume after a 14-year break.

Axar.az reports that starting January 29, the airline will operate flights twice a week.

This marks the revival of the Dhaka-Karachi link, which was suspended in 2012.

The decision follows improved relations between the two countries following the political changes in Bangladesh back in 2024.

The two nations, separated by over 1,500 kilometres of Indian territory, were once united before splitting after the 1971 war.

In 2012, tensions between Bangladesh and Pakistan flared over Bangladesh’s arrest and prosecution of individuals accused of war crimes committed during the 1971 Liberation War.
