British police have launched an investigation into Peter Mandelson, the UK’s former ambassador to the United States, over allegations of misconduct in public office linked to leaked, market-sensitive information to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Axar.az the investigation follows referrals from the British government after emails released in the U.S. suggested Mandelson shared confidential government material with Epstein during and after the 2008–09 financial crisis, including advance notice of potential UK asset sales, tax changes, and a major EU bailout.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the allegations as “disgraceful” and confirmed his government is cooperating fully with the police.
