Mexican President proposes mediation in US–Cuba dispute

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that her country is ready to act as a mediator in the dialogue between Washington and Havana in the context of the US oil blockade imposed on Cuba.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media.

"We have already made proposals, now everything depends on the two countries (the US and Cuba - ed.). Mexico will do everything for the sake of dialogue within the framework of Cuban sovereignty. This position is consistent with the traditional principles of Mexican foreign policy," she said.

"The right of peoples to self-determination is very important; this does not only apply to our principles. It is necessary to create conditions for a peaceful dialogue with Cuba, because no other country is subject to such sanctions," the Mexican President noted.

Earlier, Sheinbaum promised to expand humanitarian support to Cuba.
