On February 20, at the initiative of the Iranian side, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Axar.az informs according to Russian Foreign Ministry, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on the current situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, including in light of the results of the recent indirect U.S.–Iran contacts held in Geneva.

The Russian side reaffirmed its support for the negotiation process aimed at finding fair political and diplomatic solutions while respecting Iran’s legitimate rights, in line with the principles of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

The discussion also touched on a number of bilateral issues of mutual interest.
