Ghalibaf warns Trump against misguided decisions

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned U.S. President Donald Trump against making decisions based on inaccurate information.

Axar.az, citing IRNA, reports that addressing a meeting with economic activists, Ghalibaf referenced Trump’s recent speech to Congress on Iran, stating that the country has never pursued, is not pursuing, and will never pursue nuclear weapons.

He criticized the U.S. for directly interfering in recent protests in Iran, during which thousands of demonstrators faced a brutal crackdown by the regime, noting that Trump publicly encouraged protesters by promising support.

Ghalibaf also rejected U.S. claims that 32,000 people were killed during the mass protest, calling the figure false.

The Speaker further condemned the Israeli state as a symbol of terrorism, and accused the U.S. of pursuing its interests at the expense of Iran since the 1953 coup d’état.

Ghalibaf warned the United States that all options remain on the table in bilateral relations, ranging from dignified diplomacy to a strong response, stating:

“If the negotiation table respects Iranian dignity and mutual interests, we will be present there, as we will in tomorrow’s third round of talks.”
