Ukraine develops affordable alternative to ATACMS missile

Ukraine has begun testing a new domestically developed ballistic missile known as the FP-7, which developers say could strike targets up to 300 kilometers away.

Axar.az informs, citing Ukrainian media, the co-owner and chief designer of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, Denys Shtilierman, spoke about the production and testing of FP-7 missiles.

According to him, the FP-7 is an analogue of the American ATACMS missile but is half the cost. However, he noted in an interview with 24 Kanal that the Ukrainian design is not as compact as the American one.

Shtilierman explained that Fire Point manufactures almost all components of the FP-7 missile itself—from engines to flight controllers. The only exception is the warhead, which is produced to order.

The missile can carry a 150 kg warhead, reach speeds of 1.5 km per second, and strike targets with an accuracy of up to 14 meters.
