Ukraine, Bulgaria sign 10-year security deal in Kyiv

Ukraine and Bulgaria have signed a 10-year security agreement in Kyiv, formalizing long-term cooperation in defense and energy, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Axar.az reports, citing Kyiv Post, speaking at a joint press conference with acting Bulgarian Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov, Zelensky said the accord includes continued Bulgarian military support, joint weapons production—including drones—and energy cooperation.

“I think this strengthens both our countries and both our nations,” he said.

The deal also envisions an energy corridor that could provide Ukraine with up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually, offering an alternative in case of disruptions from other European actors.

Zelensky welcomed Bulgaria’s readiness to join the PURL initiative, describing it as an additional step to bolster Ukraine’s air defenses.

This agreement follows a series of long-term bilateral security deals Ukraine has signed with Western partners since 2024, aimed at ensuring sustained military, financial, and industrial support amid ongoing conflict.
