Latvian PM Evika Silina announces resignation

Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina has announced her resignation, saying political infighting and narrow party interests had undermined the government’s ability to function.

Axar.az reports that Silina shared the announcement on her X account, describing the decision as “difficult but honest.”

“My priority has always been, and remains, the well-being and security of Latvia's people. Parties and coalitions change, but Latvia endures,” she wrote.

The Latvian leader accused political rivals of choosing “crisis over solutions” despite the presence of what she described as a strong and professional candidate for defense minister.

“I am stepping down, but I am not giving up. And I am not leaving,” Silina added.
