Aoun hopes US–Iran deal will end Israel-Hezbollah war

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has expressed hope that a proposed agreement between the United States and Iran will bring what he called a “definitive end” to the war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Axar.az reports, citing Asharq al-Awsat, Aoun said Lebanon welcomed the draft framework’s acknowledgment that “Lebanon’s security and safety are an integral part of any effort to consolidate stability in the region.”

“The Lebanese people look forward to these understandings transforming into practical steps that put a definitive end to the cycle of violence and establish a phase of stability, security, recovery, and reconstruction,” Aoun stated.

It is noted that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that an agreement between the United States and Iran has been reached and that the deal will be signed on June 19 in Switzerland.
