Merz welcomes US–Iran deal, calls for full implementation

The German government has welcomed the framework agreement reached between the United States and Iran, saying it could contribute to global economic recovery and regional stabilization.

Axar.az reports, in a statement, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that: “The agreement can pave the way for an economic recovery of the world economy and the stabilization of the region,” Merz said.

He also stressed the need for the agreement to be fully implemented.

"The Strait of Hormuz must be permanently and fully opened to free navigation. Further negotiations in the coming weeks must ensure that Iran verifiably ends its military nuclear program. There must be no further attacks against Israel and other neighbors in the region," the statement reads.

He also added that the German Federal Government will continue to support and promote all relevant diplomatic efforts.
