The Naval Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC Navy) have said that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is only possible along routes designated by Iran.
Axar.az informs, citing Tasnim, that in an official statement, the IRGC Navy emphasized that coordination with Iranian naval forces is mandatory for all vessels transiting the strategic waterway.
The statement was issued after, according to Iranian authorities, some parties announced a new shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz without prior coordination with Tehran.
“Hours ago, a new route for vessel traffic in the Strait of Hormuz was announced by certain entities without prior notification or coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran. This route is unacceptable and extremely dangerous,” the statement said.
It added that only routes designated by Iran are authorized for passage through the strait, warning that navigation outside these corridors is prohibited and poses serious risks.
The IRGC Navy also said that all vessels must coordinate with Iranian forces via Channel 16 before entering the strait, adding that action would be taken against any ships violating the rules.
