Russia summons Romanian ambassador

Romania's ambassador to Moscow, Cristian Istrate, has been summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he will be informed of Moscow's retaliatory measures in response to the closure of Russia's Consulate General in Constanta.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Romanian envoy would be notified of the countermeasures during the meeting.

"The Romanian ambassador has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where he will be informed of retaliatory measures in response to the closure of the Consulate General in Constanta," Zakharova said.

It should be noted that the move comes after Romanian President Nicusor Dan announced in late May that Russia's Consul General in Constanta, Andrey Kosilin, had been declared persona non grata and that the consulate would be closed.
