24 detained in Izmir corruption probe

Twenty-four people have been detained in the third wave of an investigation into alleged corruption and bribery in the municipality of Seferihisar in Turkiye's Izmir province.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, those detained include Seferihisar Mayor Ismail Yetishkin and Balcova Mayor Onur Yigit.

Investigators found evidence of irregularities involving municipal employees and contractors in the construction and urban development sectors. The suspects are accused of giving and receiving bribes through cash payments and bank transfers in exchange for various illegal transactions.
