Bahrain calls for urgent UN meeting over Iranian attacks

Bahrain has called on the UN Security Council to convene an emergency session following renewed Iranian missile and drone attacks on its territory.

Axar.az reports, citing a statement by Bahrain's Foreign Ministry, that Manama condemned Iran "in the strongest terms" over repeated attacks targeting the kingdom, saying they demonstrate a deliberate pattern of aggression against Bahrain's sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The ministry said Iran's latest attack, carried out on June 28, violated commitments made under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 17, 2026, as well as UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).

It urged the Security Council to hold an urgent meeting, ensure the implementation of Resolution 2817, put an end to what it described as Iran's continued aggression, and hold those responsible accountable.

Bahrain also said the repeated attacks threaten the security of all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and reaffirmed its right under international law to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
