The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said its Aerospace Force has destroyed at least two US fighter jets and three other military aircraft and inflicted heavy damage on several more during a missile and drone strike on the US military base at Al Azraq in Jordan.
Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim News Agency, that the IRGC issued a statement on Saturday addressing the people of Jordan and members of the Arab country's armed forces, saying Iran's continued military operations have achieved decisive success and forced the US to abandon direct confrontation in favor of attacks on civilian infrastructure.
According to the statement, the steadfast presence of the Iranian people in support of the Islamic Revolution over the past 140 days has surprised the world, while the continued operations by Iranian Armed Forces have left the enemy stunned and defeated.
The statement noted that the US had sought to conceal its battlefield setbacks by targeting hospitals, bridges, railways, ports, airports and other civilian facilities in Iran, as well as killing civilians, instead of continuing direct military engagement.
The IRGC said that in the 20th wave of Operation Nasr-2, launched before dawn on Saturday in response to US attacks the previous night, its Aerospace Force carried out simultaneous missile and drone strikes against fighter aircraft shelters and a large aircraft parking ramp at the US base in Al Azraq, Jordan.
According to the statement, the attack completely destroyed at least two US fighter jets and three other military aircraft, while several additional aircraft sustained major damage.
Addressing the Jordanian people and armed forces, the IRGC called on them to play their role in confronting US forces stationed in the country. It stated that, based on religious rulings from Islamic scholars of different schools of thought, foreign non-Muslim military forces invading Islamic lands are legitimate targets.
