Venezuela earthquakes death toll rises to 5,278

The death toll from last month's powerful earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 5,278, according to the country's National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez.

Axar.az reports that Rodriguez said on Telegram that 16,740 people were injured in the earthquakes.

Official figures show that more than 850 buildings were damaged, while 190 collapsed completely.

The June 24 earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, caused widespread destruction across northern Venezuela, particularly in the coastal state of La Guaira, near the capital, Caracas.
